Summary of 2018
The Twins were off to a good start at 8-5 but went on to lose 11 of their next 12 to take them out of contention at the beginning of May. They finished strong with a six-game winning streak, but still ended up 13 games behind the Cleveland Indians.
The Twins were able to score runs even though they did not hit many home runs. Eddie Rosario led the team with a .288 batting average, 24 home runs, 77 RBI, 87 runs scored, and 8 stolen bases. Joe Mauer rode off into retirement with a .282 average.
Jose Berrios emerged as the team’s ace with a 12-11 record, 3.84 ERA, and 202 strikeouts. Unfortunately for the Twins, the 24 year old pitcher was the only starter with a record over .500. Fernando Rodney had 25 saves before being traded to the Oakland Athletics in August.
