Summary of 2018

The White Sox had a rough season. They lost 27 of their first 36 games and 19 of their last 25. Chicago finished fourth in the AL Central for the fifth consecutive season. The White Sox lost 100 games for the first time since 1970.

Jose Abreu was the only hitter with enough at bats to qualify to hit over .242, and he only hit .265. The White Sox struck out more than any other team in the American League. Their struggles getting on base translated into the fourth fewest runs scored in the league.

Lucas Giolito led the team with 10 wins, but he did it with a 6.13 ERA. James Shields led the team with 154 strikeouts, but finished 7-16. The White Sox finished in the bottom third of the league in most of the major pitching statistics.
